CHAMPIONSHIPS AT
MYTHOLMROYD 14TH
APRIL 2012
Men's 56, 62 and
69Kg Class
We
had 24 lifters today and 2 guests 6 ladies and 18 men and there were
some
very exciting competitions as well as run-away winners, the first lifter on
the
platform from Team Manchester in the 56kg class is Caleb Elliot with 33kg
he
then took 36kg for his second attempt and 40kg for his 3rd to get 3 from 3
the
bar moved up to 50kg his opening attempt Martyn Riley from Featherstone
which
he lifted easy, Martyn then jumped to 55kg and again a good lift but failed
his
3rd with 60kg but got a good lead on Caleb, in the clean and jerk Caleb
started
with 45kg and then 48kg and finished with 51kg to get 6 from 6, Martyn
then
opened with 65kg then jumped to 70kg but failed 75kg his total was enough
to
give him the title and Caleb a respectable runner-up.
In
the 62kg were 2 brothers from Team Manchester Christos and Andreas Michaelas
both
weighing the same there looked to be a good competition, Andreas started
off
with 80kg but failed his second and third attempts with 85kg and 87kg
respectively,
Christos was in form and opened with 95kg he then moved to 100kg
and
then a third success with 105kg to give him a good lead, in the clean and
jerk
Andreas opened with 95kg which was a good lift and put him in line for
his
second with 100kg and finished with a good 105kg to secure the runners up
position,
Christos was well in form and opened with good lift with 120kg, his
attempt
was the first double body weight lift of the day with 125kg, his third
attempt
with 132kg would have put him in good stead for the British team going
to
the Olympic Games this summer but failed the jerk after a tough clean but
still
took the 62kg title.
Men's 69Kg Class
Next
weight was the 69kg class, 2 lifters going for the title and guest lifter
all
the way from London Mick Middleton but first up is Luke Jones from Aire
Valley
with 73kg which he got easily the rose to 75kg for his first attempt
from
Team Manchester Nilesh Morar
this was also a good lift, Luke's second
attempt
with 77kg was a fail and so was his third with the same weight unlucky
there
but when the bar went to 80kg for his second Nilesh went ahead and again
even
further when he was successful with 83kg to give him a 10kg lead, the bar
then
moved up to 98kg for guest lifter Mike but failed his opener Mike stayed
with
98kg for his second attempt but failed this as well, Mike again took 98kg
with
the pressure of all the travelling and not making a total but again failed
to
get the lift and so would not be able to make a total.
With
a ten kg lead Nilesh opened with 90kg which was a good lift and again
with
his second lift of 95kg, the bar was loaded for Luke's first attempt with
98kg
which was a good lift, Nilesh moved the bar to 100kg to keep the pressure
on
Luke but failed on the jerk but Luke still had work to do but after failing
his
second attempt on the clean with 102kg he was still moved up to 106kg to try
take
the championship from Nilesh and after a tough clean he made easy work of
jerk
and took the 69kg title. Guest lifter Mike opened with 120kg but failed
the
clean he moved the bar to 123kg but failed the jerk, to give him some time
Mike
moved the bar to 125kg which after another tough clean managed a good
jerk.
Men's 77kg Class
In
the 77kg class were 4 lifters, and first up with 43kg from Bradford Jo
Fontaine
but failed both first attempts and second he was though successful on
his
third, the bar moved up to 50kg for Lewis Frater's
from Team Manchester
which
was a good lift but failed both his second and third lifts with 55kg
the
bar moves to 65kg for George Guest's opening lift but even with a success
George
was timed out so he moved up to 69kg which was in time and a good lift
he
then moved to 75kg for a new best but did not pull high enough and failed
the
bar then took a big jump to 110kg for his opening lift Shaun Clegg from
Team
Manchester he again successful with 117kg and then with 122kg which
was
great to see, in the clean and jerk Jo opened with 55kg but failed the
jerk
he did get it on the second attempt but then failed his third with 60kg
the
bar then moved to 65kg for Lewis to open his first lift which was a good
lift
as was his second with 68kg and third with 71kg to secure third place
the
bar was then moved up to 85kg for George's opening lift and after a the
success
of that lift he went to 90kg for a new best which again he got well
he
then went up to 93kg for another new best and again was a good lift. The
bar
then took a good jump to 140kg for Shaun's first attempt and what a good
that
was he moved up to 145kg again a good lift and then the second double body
weight
lift of the day and a successful 150kg for Shaun very well done.
Men's 85Kg Class
4
lifters in the 85kg class and first out with 68kg Gareth Braisdell
from
Sheffield
Hallam this was a good lift as was his second with 74kg but he
failed
his third with 80kg the bar moved up to 87kg his first lift Bryn Jones
from
York the bar moved to 90kg for Alex Emmerson from Crossfit Manchester but
failed
the lift and failed his second with the same weight he did however make
the
weight look like nothing when he got the line right on hos
third the bar
then
jumped to 110kg for Crossfit Manchester's Peter Brzezinka to open with
an
easy lift, Peter then jumped to 118kg but failed the lift he then moved
the
bar to 120 and managed a very good lift to take a strong lead. In the
clean
and jerk Gareth opened with 98kg which was a good lift as was his second
with
105kg and another good lift with 110kg to finish with 5 from 6, the bar
moved
up to 115kg for Alex to take his first attempt which was a good lift
the
bar moved to 117kg for Bryn to get a total but failed the jerk his second
attempt
made the weight look very easy,119kg went on for Alex to take his second
lift
and managed a good lift, up to 121kg for Bryn to finish on a good total
which
he did very well, Alex then moved to 123kg to try and take the runner-up
place
and after a very good lift secured the position, the bar then moved up
to
140kg for Peter's first attempt in the clean and jerk and made it look very
comfortable
as did his second attempt with 147kg Peter then took another big
jump
to 153kg but failed on the jerk but his total was enough to win the
85kg
championship.
Men's 94Kg Class
There
were also 4 lifters in the 94kg class, first weight 60kg for Crossfit
Manchester
lifter Steven fisher which was a good lift, the bar moved up to
65kg
for Simon Lynch to open and got a good lift up 1kg to 66kg for Steven's
second
lift which he made easy work of, up to 71kg for Simon to take his second
lift
and managed a good lift up 2kg to 73kg for Steven to manage 3 from 3,
Simon
then went up to 76kg to also manage 3 from 3 lift, the bar then moved
up
to 82kg for Scott Heathfield from Aire
Valley and got a good lift, he then
moved
to 87kg for a new best and got a good lift and another good lift with
90kg
on his third, the bar then went up to 100kg for the Bradford lifter
Qaiser Butt, he then went to 105kg
and 110kg successfully and a good lead,
In
the clean and jerk Simon opened with 85kg and a good lift, the bar moved
to
90kg for Steven's first good lift, the bar then went up 1kg to 91kg for
Simon
to get his second good lift and then his third with 95kg, Steven had
jumped
10kg to 100kg which was Scott's first successful attempt and also
a
good lift for Stevens second, both moved to 105kg which Steven failed the
jerk
but Scott managed a good lift, Scott moved to 110kg for a new best but
failed
the clean, the bar moved to 120kg for Qaiser's first
good lift and
another
good lift for his second with 130kg but failed on his third with 140kg
but
managed to take the title.
Women's - All
Classes
In
the ladies competition there were 6 lifters and one guest lifter all the
way
from the island of Jersey.
In
the 48kg class on her own and the third family member Anastasia Michaelas
opened
with a successful 35kg as was 38kg on her second and again on her third
with
41kg, Anastasia opened on her clean and jerk with 45kg she failed with
48kg
but found her line and got a good lift securing the title.
In
the 53kg class were 2 lifters both from Crossfit
Manchester and first out
was
Beverly Patterson with 39kg but failed the lift, she however managed a
good
lift on her second attempt but failed her third with 41kg, the bar then
rose
to 44kg for Jo McManus to take her first lift and a very comfortable lift
it
was, she moved up to 47kg and then to 51kg in very good form.
In
the clean and jerk Beverly opened with a comfortable 59kg, Jo then opened
with
60kg and a good lift, Beverly then popped up 2kg to 61kg but failed the
lift,
she did however a good with 61kg on her third, Jo then moved to 63kg
and
after this good lift she was also successful with 66kg.
The
next bodyweight group and on her own in the 58kg class Michelle Davies
from
Crossfit Manchester opened with 34kg she then moved
to 37kg another good
lift,
she then moved up to 40kg but failed the lift, after a rest Michelle was
out
with her lift in the clean and jerk with 54kg but failed both her second
and
third lifts with 57kg but did enough for the title.
No
lifters in the 63kg class so up to the 69kg class with Justine Davies-Hirst
and
Suzy Trebillcock and first out with 33kg Justine
managed a good lift but
failed
her second attempt with 36kg, after a pep talk from coach Bob she
got
a successful third with 36kg, Suzy then opened with 48kg which was a good
lift
as was her second with 51kg and third with 54kg respectively, in the
clean
and jerk Justine from Bradford opened with a fail with 43kg but got a
good
lift on her third attempt, the bar jumped to 58kg for the first attempt
for
Suzy from Parkhead (above Newcastle) which was a good
lift, she then moved
up
to 62kg for another successful lift she failed her third lift with 64kg but
did
enough to take the title.
Guest
lifter Trisha Forbes on her own in the 75+ class opened with a good lift
with
31kg, she failed with 34kg on her second attempt but managed a good lift
with
34kg on her third, in the clean and jerk Trisha opened with 43kg she then
moved
up to a successful 46kg and then on to another good lift with 48kg.
There
was some fantastic lifting from both the boys and girls and it was also
a
fantastic sight to see people volunteering to help load and help in the set
up
and packing away with these people helping where they are our sport will
succeed
in going forward to being a great sport again.
